As we have learned over the past few years, you never know exactly when a disaster will strike or how severe the damage will be. We want everyone in Kitsap County; families, businesses, schools, offices, renters and home owners to start getting prepared today.
The new KCDEM website has been specifically redesigned to help you get prepared. In case of a major disaster, KCDEM and most other emergency agencies, will not be able to respond immediately to requests for assistance. In the event of a major earthquake, it could even take hours or days, especially if there is extensive damage to utilities causing loss of power, water and communciations. That's why it is so important that you take responsibility to make sure you, your family, your car and workplace are prepared to survive for three to seven days without access to normal services and resources.
We encourage you to use the information on this website to create your own personal preparedness plan for your family. If you own a business and have employees, we strongly suggest you make sure your employees are prepared too. This is especially important if you are involved in providing health care type services and have patients who may rely on your services.
We invite you to look at the "Preparedness" categories listed on the left side of this page.
