Port Orchard Independent - Port Orchard Mayor Kim Abel learned last week that if she ever gets tired of running the city, she just might want to consider being a firefighter.
On Friday, Abel crawled through a burning trailer and battled the flames inside, then hopped out and proclaimed that she actually would have liked to have seen a bit more fire. Click here for the complete story.
The Kitsap Sun - When I was given the opportunity to live the life of a firefighter, if only for a few hours, I quickly learned fighting flames is just a small slice of the job. Firefighters are paramedics. Search and rescue experts. Demolishers. Extractors. Impromptu counselors. They do also battle flames.
